The Uncle Group's annual Researchers Assistance Plan (RAP) is available for users of UNCLE PROFESSIONAL and UNCLE STANDARD, USort, and UPrint.  RAP is an annually renewable membership program that provides the UNCLE user with these important benefits:

  • Unlimited Priority Technical Support.  Only RAP members have e-mail and telephone access to The Uncle Group’s technical support team.  With decades of practical hands-on experience, RAP reps are available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.

  • Software Upgrades.  Only RAP members automatically receive new releases of UNCLE free of charge (averaging one new release every eighteen to twenty-four months).

  • Partner Relationship with The Uncle Group.  The Uncle Group selects beta software partners from its RAP membership.  Early notice of new features and enhancements, members-only mailings, and special pricing for companion products are just a few of the many other benefits of the Researchers’ Assistance Plan.

How About UNCLE REPORTS?

Inquiries regarding the use of UNCLE REPORTS will in most cases pertain to a given project's Variables and Database.  As a result, questions are to be directed to the UNCLE PROFESSIONAL licensee who created these files.  Help and question answering is, of course, always available through REPORTS' Help menu.  The Uncle Group is not responsible for any questions arising from third-party use of REPORTS, and will redirect any such requests to the UNCLE PROFESSIONAL licensee.

Benefits and Cost of RAP?

The Researchers’ Assistance Plan is surprisingly affordable when you consider the benefits.

  • Have all of the newest features of UNCLE at your disposal!  As a RAP member, all new releases of UNCLE are sent to you before being offered in the marketplace.  And any questions about the new enhancements can be answered promptly by RAP.

  • Time is money!  RAP enables you to work at your most efficient, with guidance and problem-solving just a phone call or e-mail away.  Consider the cost in employee-hours spent needlessly in trial and error and false starts, and you’ll come to realize the value of RAP.

 Operation Without RAP

  • Do I have to purchase RAP?  No, and if you are a RAP member, you’re not required to renew when your subscription expires.  However, RAP is required in order to receive ongoing priority telephone and e-mail support, as well as new releases free of additional charge.  We encourage licensees to maintain ongoing support with the goal of maximizing productivity and efficiency.

  • Can I get technical support without RAP membership?  Yes, but on a very limited basis.  Without RAP membership, all questions and concerns must be mailed or e-mailed to The Uncle Group, one question at a time.  Only the current release is supported, however, and submitted questions will be reviewed and responded to, by e-mail, on a first-come-first-served,  as-time-permits basis.  Responses will be of a superficial nature, and in many instances may only direct the recipient to the appropriate documentation in UNCLE's Help.  Only with RAP will you receive prompt and thorough telephone and e-mail support.

  • Can I receive upgrades without RAP?  Yes, but for a price.  Non-members will be notified of each new release of UNCLE and the cost to upgrade, but there is no requirement to purchase these.  However, the cost of new releases increases significantly for users who have not kept current with the releases of UNCLE.  RAP members receive each new release automatically, and free of additional charge.

 Why is RAP Important to Me?

  • Enhanced Productivity.  While UNCLE is the most user-oriented tabulation software on the market today, there are hundreds of advanced features that open up a whole new world of processing power.  Guidance in the use of these features is a quick phone call or e-mail away, and you’ll always have the most recent release of UNCLE at your disposal.

  • Design Consultation.  Many users have specific database or tabulation goals, but can’t figure out how to achieve those results.  There’s trial and error, or there’s RAP.

  • Logic Verification.  Do your specifications look okay, but your results don’t?  Careful checking of those results should determine if they are correct, but if it doesn’t, you can cross your fingers, or there’s RAP.

  • Direct Support.  Are aspects of a project taking an inordinate amount of time to accomplish?  They may not need to.  The RAP support team is as near as the closest telephone, and they’ll set you on the right track in minutes, showing you the most efficient way to accomplish the task at hand!  But only with RAP.

What If I Don't Currently Subscribe to the Annual Researchers' Assistance Plan?

First, take a look at Uncle's Help under Technical Support, e-Help, FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions; the answer to your question might be there.  Failing at that, users of UNCLE products who do not have an active Researchers’ Assistance Plan must submit questions by e-mail or mail.  Only the two most recent releases of UNCLE are supported, however.
