This could be the result of any one of a number of factors. If you have a HASP® HL USB hardlock installed:
the hardlock itself could be faulty;
the USB port could be faulty;
the hardlock's drivers might be outdated; or
UNCLE's installation might have been aborted
Contact us at info@unclegroup.com to help resolve the issue.
If you still have an older Parallel Port Interface (PPI) hardlock installed:
the hardlock itself could be faulty;
the parallel port could be faulty;
the parallel port's mode could be set to an incompatible setting;
the hardlock's drivers might be outdated;
UNCLE's installation might have been aborted; or
other software could be creating a port conflict
Contact us at info@unclegroup.com to order a replacement HASP® HL USB hardlock..
If you are still using a Parallel Port Interface (PPI) hardlock, you may need to replace it with a newer HASP® HL USB hardlock. If you already have a HASP HL USB, then you may need to upgrade your hardlock drivers. Either way, contact us at info@unclegroup.com and we'll help you resolve the issue.
The parallel port hardlock is rather inconvenient. Is there an alternative?
Yes, there is. HASP® HL USB is now available, and has a number of attributes in its favor: an end to port incompatibility issues; compact dimensions (2 inches x 5/8 inch x 1/4 inch); connects to any available USB port; Plug and Play; and easy swapping between PCs without first having to disconnect printer cables. If you're interested in switching to HASP HL USB, contact us at info@unclegroup.com .
My RECALL arrow keys no longer work. What happened?
They still work, but you have to hold the Shift key down when you use them. The reason for the change is that in the Windows environment the arrow keys alone are used for scrolling back and forth through the active screen. So, to avoid any conflicts, we added the additional keystroke. (Change made to release w01)
Maybe. Keep in mind that these significance tests are performed only on those rows flagged for inclusion in the tests. Inclusion is handled in one of two ways: 1) by attaching an SGTEST row option on every row whose percents are to be tested; or 2) applying a single SGTEST table option in your banner, which automatically flags all rows for inclusion in the tests (with the exception of rows having either statistical qualifications or options).
COMP
options that used to work with release w01 now give me a syntax error message in
release w05. What happened?
There has been a syntax change with both the COMP and the TAG
options. In both instances, characters used as labels must now be
separated with commas. This change is a result of the
enhancement enabling the use of strings of text as labels as well as single
characters. A former TAG option of TAG 'Aa' must now be written as TAG
'A,a' and a COMP option written as SGCOMP .95 HIGH 1 .90 HIGH 2 'ABC' must
now be written as SGCOMP .95 HIGH 1 .90 HIGH 2 'A,B,C' . (Change
made to release w02)
You might want to consider creating sub-folders of your Projects folder for each UNCLE project, and storing only a given project’s files in its new folder. This will go a long way towards organizing your files and reducing clutter.
The Console settings are applied to the main UNCLE project window. The Edit settings are applied to all secondary windows. Secondary windows are the ones opened with either the EDIT request or by using the WINDOWS option.
There are now three options:
The traditional method. This is performed in UNCLE at the request prompt, using the Table Maintenance requests START, ADD, SAVE, FILE, COPY, APPEND, CHANGE, REPLACE, PUT and GET. Tables are saved to the Table Library. UNCLE’s prompts and on-the-fly syntax checking provide an assist to accuracy and organization.
Using the UNCLE Editor. This is a full-screen text editor that enables you to write or update one or more tables at a time at a much faster and more efficient pace than with the traditional interactive method. Tables are saved to the Table Library.
Writing the tables to a specifications E-file. This is an ASCII text file, and can be written using any text editor (including the UNCLE Editor) or word processor. The specifications are saved solely to the E-file, and are later written to the Table Library individually or as a group using the ENTER request. The E-file remains as a backup copy of your specifications, and can be revisited for making table changes. These changes need to be re-entered into the Table Library using the ENTER NOADD request.
There are two methods for printing UNCLE's default output:
Printing output files stored on disk. Whenever the OFF option is used, output is directed to a print file stored on disk. By default, this file has the name projname.LST. Once you’ve closed this file (by ending your UNCLE session or by clicking on the Close Print File button on the toolbar), you can send this file to a printer with our printing utility UPrint. UPrint can be opened from either its desktop icon or the UPrint button on the UNCLE toolbar.
Printing on-screen results in UNCLE. When information is displayed in the UNCLE project window, subsets of this information can be selected and then printed either with the Print item in the File menu or with the Print button on the toolbar. Similarly, the contents of secondary windows (created with the WINDOWS option or EDIT request) can be printed in their entirety or as selections in the same fashion.
Of course, output created with either the WORD or WORDALT options can be printed directly from Microsoft Word®, and output created with the EXCEL Run or Table Option can be printed from Microsoft Excel®.
UNCLE and UPrint are both installed with default settings appropriate to UNCLE’s default output. There are occasional instances when these settings aren’t quite accurate to a specific printer and its drivers, and these default settings will never be accurate if SET PLINE and/or SET PAGE values have been reset for an UNCLE session. These default settings are easily adjusted, however, and on-line documentation explains the procedure. For changing UPrint settings, see Advanced Usage, Compensating for Changes to SET PLINE and SET PAGE in UPrint’s on-line help. For changing UNCLE’s print settings, see System Considerations, System Considerations for Using UNCLE, Printing from Within UNCLE in UNCLE’s on-line help.
That's easy enough to take care of. While in the Editor, right-click, then click on Properties..., followed by the Keyboard tab. Locate and click on the appropriate Command:, then look to Key assignments: to verify the current corresponding keystrokes. If the ones you'd expect aren't there, click on Reset and see if they appear. If they do, click on Apply. If they don't, move your cursor to New key assignment: and enter the desired keystrokes. If those keystrokes are not currently assigned to any other command, click on Assign, then Apply. When you're all finished, click on OK. To save these changes for future sessions, be sure to click on Save View Settings in the View menu.
